On reading:
After being on a reading hiatus, I've decided to pick up a book or two again. I'm not as big of a book fanatic as my aunt, but I do like reading. I re-read Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince, so I can remember what happened, in preparation for the movie that was due to come out in November. WAS.
About a month ago, it was announced that they are pushing the release date from November to July. JULY?!?!?!? WTF?!?!?! I think I heard the whole world groan. My heart sank for a minute because I was getting so excited and have started my countdown. I haven't done that since the last book came out. Now, they've pushed it another 8 months! But, I guess I can wait another 10 freaking months. It would've been just 2 more months, but that damn WB!
I borrowed The Five People You Meet in Heaven and Angels and Demons from Riz. The 5 People book was ok - good read, but it didn't quite meet my expectations. I guess that booked got too hyped up that when finally read, it was like, Oh. Ok. Then what?
I just started reading Angels & Demons. Riz and Juls said this is better than the Da Vinci Code. I guess we'll see...
I have several books sitting on my bookshelf, untouched. Well, I started reading 2 of them, like a LOONG time ago, and stopped. Maureen Dowd's "Are Men Necessary?" and Christopher Paolini's "Eldest". Oh, speaking of which, Mar said Paolini was gonna be in town for a booksigning. He asked if I wanted to go, and I was like, "Why?" hehehe... not THAT much of a fan. Now if it was JK Rowling, that's a whole different story.
On TV and movies:
Looking forward to watching Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince next year. And the Deathly Hallows, which will be split into 2 movies, due to come out in 2010 and 2011. Woohoo! Other than that, there are no other movies I'm looking forward to.
Recently watched "Finding Anastasia" on Nat Geo. I first heard about Anastasia's story from my World History teacher. About a week or so after I heard it, I saw a preview for the animated movie Anastasia. That's STILL one of my fave movies. I don't know all the words like I do for Lion King, but I do know all the songs in that movie. Anyway, the documentary Finding Anastasia featured some bones newly discovered in Siberia. To make the long story short, men found bones, scientists used super high tech devices to extract DNA, finally closed the book on the rumors circulating about her supposed survival of the massacre. Anastasia WAS killed along with her family. What a sad ending. Totally un-Disney. I wanted happy ending, you know, that she did survive, and she's out there somewhere.
